Hands Across the Sand – Sat, May 20 Lori Wilson Park

Hands Across the Sand/Land Coming to Cocoa Beach on May 20th

WHAT: A crowd will join hands forming a line across the beach at Lori Wilson Park in a local “Hands Across the Sand/Land” gathering; this is one of hundreds of synchronized events globally to raise awareness about the dangers of dirty fuels and the need to speed the transition to available, affordable clean energy solutions. The events are particularly salient this year with the Trump Administration’s vision to “unleash America’s $50 trillion in untapped shale, oil, and natural gas reserves, plus hundreds of years in coal reserves.” This is the opposite of investing in a green energy future and fails to honor international agreements to fight climate change. The impacts of these actions will affect people across the world.

WHO: Join Cocoa Beach Chapter Surfrider as we and others across the nation bring awareness and together fight offshore drilling. By saying NO to dirty fuels and YES to clean energy. We will queue up along the water line and hold hands in solidarity to bring awareness that this is not the answer! Please come prior to noon, we ask that you use alternate transportation for example- walk, skate, ride bicycle, public transportation. .

WHEN:   Saturday, May 20th 11:00am, Hands Across The Ceremony will be held at noon.

WHERE: Lori Wilson Park, 1500 N Atlantic Ave, Cocoa Beach, FL 32953
